When Virginie and her husband Wolfgang first visited this property, now affectionately known as Veersenhof – they knew this was the place to call home for their horses and dogs. The farm’s main focus is on breeding high quality dressage horses.

The twenty-five acre property is located between Hamburg and Hannover, at the Northwest frontier of Lueneburg Heath. Sprawling meadows and woods are found throughout the land, a creek runs through it.

They have put about two years of work into the stable and property. It’s come a long way, but there are still many plans in place to make Veersenhof an even better place for the horses, humans and dogs.

The farm is over a hundred years old and has had several different owners over the years. Virginie and Wolfgang have created an environment that’s perfect for the horses, but still allows them to have a bit of luxury. There is harmony between the buildings among the hundreds of oak trees, beech trees, and greenery throughout the land.

The couple worked with local craftsmen to rebuild the existing barn. The stable now houses hay, machinery, the feed room, grooming area and examination stall, tack room and a spacious pen for mares. There are six stalls attached to the barn, which open to the paddock, the center of the stud farm.

Everything is build from larch wood and the stalls have an open concept, without metal bars or dividers.

The horses are kept in groups based on their ages. The young horses have a separate pen with a paddock and access to meadows, plenty of space for them to run. There is an additional two-stall foaling unit on the property.

Everything in the barn is neat and tidy.

One of Virginie’s special projects was the tack room. She turned this space into a functional and beautiful room.
