Lycanthropy

A werewolf, also known as a lycanthrope, is a mythological or folkloric human with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf or a therianthropic hybrid wolf-like creature, either purposely or after being placed under a curse or affliction (from a bite or scratch from another werewolf).
A coven of witches may perform the Curse of the Wolf to inflict lycanthropy on a player or villager, alternatively if a transformed werewolf that has been granted the ability to spread the curse, sufficiently damages (but does not kill) a victim, the curse may spread to them. It has been reported that appeals to the deity associated with this curse, may be answered with a way to obtain this curse.
The curse can progress through many stages as a werewolf develops in power, but to begin with, each night of a full moon, the player will be forcefully transformed into a full wolf form. When day comes around they will revert to their human form. The following changes will occur when transformed to a wolf:
  • Shrunk to below one block in height (can walk under a 1 block high gap)
  • Wolf model
  • Cannot wear armor
  • Much Faster movement speed
  • Slightly Better jump (and leap)
  • increased step height (no need to jump to ascend 1 block)
  • Night vision
  • Immunity to poison and disease
  • Tougher (natural armor)
  • Resistant to physical and magical damage
  • Weak to silver attacks (take double damage and werewolf resistance is negated)

Developing werewolf abilities

The Curse of the Wolf can be very problematic for players, unless they learn to master it. Mastering the wolf requires the construction of a Wolf Altar and communing with the deity responsible for the curse. Once a Wolf Altar has been made and placed, using it will result in a task being set, completion of which will result in the player's werewolf abilities being improved. This can continue until all abilities are acquired.
Each level brings a new ability, and increases the basic stats of existing abilities, such as attack damage, move speed, damage resistance, jump and leap, etc.

1Player turns into Wolf Form on the night of a full moon, and returns to human form at other times
2Player can carry a Moon Charm to prevent forced transformation, and use it to force transformation at will. Killing sheep in Wolf or Wolfman Form can result in Raw Lambchops being dropped.
3Wolf Form gains the ability to instantly dig earth and sand (and occasionally find bones)
4Kills from Wolf or Wolfman form will now be eaten, replenishing hunger loss
5Player can now additionally transform to Wolfman Form using a Moon Charm (while sneaking)
6Hitting while sprinting in Wolf of Wolfman form will now cause additional damage (crit from the air more so)
7Wolfman Form gains the ability to sneak use (shift right-click) while looking straight up to howl and stun nearby creatures
8Wolf Form gains the ability to sneak use (shift right-click) while looking straight up to howl to summon temporary wolf allies

Wolfman Form gains the ability to rend armor
10Causing almost fatal damage while in Wolfman or Wolf Forms can now spread the curse to players or villagers. This can be disabled for player to player transmission by setting the configuration option: B:AllowPlayerToPlayerWolfInfection=false.
